We decided to start writing our fanfiction project as an Option C: a missing moment, which starts of as a normal day at Hogwarts. However, it develops into a plot twist involving option D alternate universe. We choose alternate universe as the main option because we thought it would be interesting to bring Hogwarts into the real world. In this alternate universe Hogwarts is a children's mental hospital and Harry is a patient. The characters from the book are all a part of the alternate universe but in different roles which suits their attributes and qualities. For example Hermione is a really skilled doctor.

 

The story will evolve around Harry at the hospital trying to find out what the secret on the third floor, in other words taking place as a missing chapter in the book. However, as we said in this alternate universe Harry is suffering of a mental illness that makes him believe he is a wizard. Everyone at the hospital is playing along to protect him but of course this is not sustainable.

 

The story will involve different setting where Harry in his mind is still at Hogwarts but the reader and narrator are both aware of that “the real” setting is at the mental hospital. To create a setting we will weave in different attributes from the settings at Hogwarts in the setting of the mental hospital.
